My Circle

I have received a poke to my eye asking me for a much needed metamorphosis of my musings. Need to be more Public friendly it seems ;).
And besides its been high time I gave an intro of Me other than what you can gather from my profile. For those of you who don't know me or my peeps, I am an average Joe IT guy working in a so called metropolitan city in God's own country. I don't really want to talk about what I work on as I would like it to remain a mystery to you, the reader. Make me an astronaut. Or make me an artist.

So here is my small circle. I will be constantly using these monikers, so whenever in doubt come back to this post. First the main one:

Sithu/Wifey/BOSS

My Wife. Met her in college. Fell in love at 768th sight (2nd year i think) and was destined to be with her for the rest of my life. My world revolves around her so don't be surprised if she is mentioned in every post.

Now come my peeps:

Basi

He is my ex proj and kashtakala mate. Have been with him for some time now. Nobody can beat him in a talkathon and nobody dares to try jaada in front of this guy. He will tear you apart by his words alone! :) :) . Fun and dependable friend....
Favorite Line - Mai**mar Oro Kootam! Kazhappum Motthu vannu!
Vehicles owned - Royal Enfield Bullet, Toyota Etios

Muthu

He is my unfortunate colleague and my buddy. Has a hard time with women. Nice to see his cheeks flush when he talks to them. But don't mention this to him as he would not appreciate it.
Favorite line "Aliya, Aliya Aliya Aliya Aliya Aliya Aliya...Eeee alinja sadhanathe ano Aliya ennu vilikkune?".
Vehicles Owned - Royal Enfield Thunderbird (350 Cc), Santro ( trust me this info will come in handy)

Kuku

He is another one of my unfortunate colleagues.(Notice how I use Unfortunate every time. Those of you who work in my firm will know. But not sharing the name currently). Talented guy. But again he also has a hard time with women. But he is one helluva guy and takes everything in its stride.
Favorite Line: "Yevvalavo Pannita. Ithu pannamata?"
Vehicles - Suzuki GS150R

TBC

'I am the back'

Whoa!! Its been like ages since I have posted something here.  The old ODC did have its own advantages. Nevertheless a lot has happened since last and the biggest change awaits. More on that later.
 First updates on other fronts.

The movie marathon that started very positively has now slowed down to snails pace in terms of excitement. But yes, there were some movies that I did add to the list.

1) Argo - Absolute Classic. Wasn't a Ben Affleck fan before this. But I truly am now! Wonderful story, wonderful acting, exceptional screenplay, mind blowing highs throughout. Trust me. If it was not on your watch list, it should be added without a shadow of a doubt.

2) Man of Steel - Ennnhh! I mean the hype and the expectations were too high on this one and it failed miserably in my opinion to live up to either. The visual effects are good but the fight sequences are long and dragging and make you say ' Ok. Can you just get on with the story?'. The second part is rumoured to have a Superman Vs Batman angle with ben affleck as batman. I am not keeping my hopes up. It is always better to go as a neutral viewer. That way you wont be disappointed if its not up to mark for you.

3) Romans (Mal) - Good. Nice laughs throughout. I  really like Biju Menon and he has not disappointed. Chackochan is also good. Nothing much on the story front. Its a one time watch movie. Enjoy for the laughs.

4) Madarasa Pattinam - Superb. Arya is just amazing. The visuals are spectacular. The movie is nicely paced as well. The leading lady has done a good job as well. Captures the life of rural india at that time very well. The BGM and songs are very good as well. Definitely must watch.

5) Gravity - Mind Numbing. What a powerful movie. You will, not for a nano second, doubt if they are really in space. Absolute state of the art visuals. Superb performances from Sandra Bullock and Clooney. Sandra does seemed to have aged a lot though but that doesn't matter in any way here. Clooney is just the best in terms of being the cool calm guy and he does that with charm here. MUST WATCH.

6) Now You See Me - Very Good. Done without any big names to back it up. And it delivers.Convincing story, eventhough there do seem to be holes here and there. But overall a nice attempt and is worth a watch. Watch it with an open mind.

My MS is about to finish and i will then be a post graduate. Not Bad eh?
PES Fun Fiesta just concluded and we won the movie spoof competition. Here's a link for anyone interested.

Just moved to a new proj and have some old mates with me this time. Its gonna be fun with Sasi Ettan, Joe Paul, Suraj Buddy, Asina and Antony. Kuku is also part of the DFT team. So this is gonna be interesting.

I will update on the big news front in the next post as the 'Boss' has currently not given her approval for sharing the news. Keep guessing. Until Next time.

Movie Marathon

A lot has happened since my last post in June... but nothing that need be discussed than may be Jehu mon's D-Day....
It was fun...the food was good..trip was cool...overall a good day...but pretty tiring...followed by another trip to Deepu's wedding the very next day..but all worth it....
some time with old mates...all good...

But lets talk about 'movies'..... recently watched a few...
One hindi..
'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' - One word -->Blah! i mean what was the point of the movie, other than the gorgoues eye popping deepika that is....Songs are good..deepika is so beautiful..other than that nothing....One time watch may be just for the heck of it...
Moving on to the english ones
Oz, the great and powerful - Nice movie...but again more of kiddie touch...one time watch and definitely justfies its IMDB rating of 6.5...need not be rated higher...in fact could be rated a bit lower say 6.... But one thing to mention is Rachel Wiesz' performance - very good... a very respectable villain ;)
A Tale of Two sisters - Mind Blowing.... read an IMDB article which cleared a few doubts and it was liberating...not that scary..but the whole premise is awesome....If you have seen it (ONLY IF YOU HAVE SEEN IT) then go to this link for any unanswered doubts
                          http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365376/board/flat/69288079
Despicable Me 2 - Loved it....not as good as the first one may be...but does justice to it anyway...very enjoyable and Minions take the prize for me again....too cute and absolutely funny..masala masala..My opinion - watch it.
Have my eyes set on some awesome movies as my watchlist:

Argo, Motorcycle diaries, Paranorman...

Book Currently - The girl with the dragon tattoo.... wonder when it would be concluded ;)...the movie is on short list....so until then hope to stay active in the movie marathon with Arbi

Anti-Climax

It was not that bad till last friday..some rumours..some whispers.....
But then it was all disappointment in a matter of minutes... Dont have any motivation to work any more... but there is still a silver lining

Lets not lose hope... and as i have always maintained... 'Hope makes the world go round'...so let me hope hope for the best

Some decisions need to be given serious thought now....

Please god help me...

The Magic Cube

I became a fan of this amazing little cube in my college days. Bright colours and twisty parts.... I had never had a second look at it before that...

But my buddy introduced me to it..showed me a simple way to solve it...n I was hooked like fish to the worm... I became better through time (better does not mean awesome).... learned to solve it under  90sec... but then 89 s is as far as i got.....
It faded away once i was out of college..
but recently i had another encounter with the beautiful puzzle when i saw this on flipkart:

http://www.flipkart.com/shengshou-cube-2x2/p/itmdkj4zx3yah9xt?pid=PUZDJUHPTKGPBA53&icmpid=reco_pp_historyFooter_puzzle_3

2x2 cube...or the ice cube..or mini cube... The junior rubik's cube... It again switched on sumthing in my brain..

i went on to search more of the history of the cube and what i found was too good not to be shared... you wud not believe the levels of craziness that increases with each of the cubes shown below...

There are millions of other cube types that i have not mentioned....... come to think of it..we can test ourselves at so many different levels..but we seldom do...

We turned 2 a few weeks bak

So our marriage is 2 years old recently..its been a cool ride till now..and i hope it remains so for a long long time....

Lots been happning since my last post...  The anniversary was a mixed bag... had fun watching 'The Croods'..so did she... The crazy 'mousephant' thing got my eyes.. i mean its so small n blue... and its a mouse yet its an elephant..wtf?? i mean just look at this thing:

Any way all the mousephants apart..the movie was really funny and worth the watch!

Had planned for a lot more but nothing materialised... So i decided to make up for it...
Went to a nice place, the weekend after and had a real romantic slow dinner and drive....went for some ice cream after and made her eat loads of some flavour i dnt remember...it was again worth it...

More on the croods and may be some other movies i watched in the later posts.....
One of my class mates got married recently and it was a reunion of sorts...My college mates..we ll at least most of them made it...Drive was good...the wedding better.. the only low point was the life sucking heat.....

Had some birthday celebrations yesterday..some of my very good frnds..... Vinayan turned 25 (aaah?) on friday or somethin...Basi turns 28 today..wonder how i can coax him to get married.... Common he is the only one not even planning anything...Others have at least started looking.... at least i am happy that in the list of married guys in our batch, there is more than just one name

Its been fun really... have made new frnds...have bonded with my old pals...
Planning to take a trip wit wifey n a few othr couples n may be Sunmon next month..wonder how that would pan out! (Notice how Sunmon is in bold..interpret that)

Confusions gallore with some new life decisions making me go round in circles as well..... decision time soon...Wifey will help i know..

Wow some of the things in the past few weeks have been seriously random.... or have they??? more on the seemingly random yet controlled chaos in later posts.... watch the blogto find out

Whatever mate.... I only have one thing to say "Its been emotional... "

How complicated can it be??

Today I really can declare how lucky I have been......
I wont say she was my first love or my first a crush or whatever you would like to call it...
but she was the one...is the one and will always remain the one...

Its been almost six years now... (two officially).. and I am still bowled over at the sight of her....

But let me tell you....cliche or not.. not everybody is as lucky....My best friend..my brother...could not realize his dream life... what went wrong?

Luv your special someone... Treat her like a queen!
I hope I have and always will...... Luvu my dear wifey!

If I leave here tomorrow

It was a few years ago that I heard a song from a band with a wierd name .. The song was called 'Ballad of Curtis Lowe'...Something had struck me.. I was hooked for life. I searched for more from the band and one of my friends gave me a few songs from his collection.....
LynYrd SkynYrd was(sort of still 'is') a country rock band which gave some of the most memorable songs ever...
A few of my favorites: Simple Man, Sweet Home Alabama... But my favorite has to be Free Bird..It was voted to be in the 100 best guitar songs of all times and deservedly so.... No bad could be churned out from lynyrd skynyrd.. And then back in 1977, three days after the release of the band's fifth album, "Street Survivors," lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, and backing vocalist Cassie Gaines were all killed on impact when their tour plane crashed into a swampy forest... the band was never the same again...
Ironically the lyrics of the song Free Bird:

If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be traveling on, now,
'Cause there's too many places I've got to see.
But, if I stayed here with you, girl,
Things just couldn't be the same.
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now,
And this bird you can not change.

Time Out

Hey all...

Try out this cool test that tells you how much percent insane you really are! I just found out that I am 38.6363% insane...

 http://www.penddraig.co.uk/pen/tests/sanity.htm

Come to think of it...it actually makes sense! Thanks penddraig guys for coming out with this!

Four Walls of Grandeur

I feel this is a very fitting piece to start ... an interesting work from one of the Guy Ritchie classics.. My fellow ignominious fool has added a few things... i found them strikingly correct!

"Have you ever observed a pack of cigarettes. All you need to know about life is retained within those four walls. You will notice that one of your personalities is seduced by the illusions of grandeur(like the wannabe IT professionals looking forward to their future IT job) - the gold packet of king size with a regal insignia, an attractive implication towards glamor and wealth; the subtle suggestion that cigarettes are indeed your royal and loyal friends, and that, my friend, is a lie. Your other personality is trying to draw your attention to the flip side of the discussion (which are us, the experienced IT guys), written in boring bold black and white, it's a statement that these neat little soldiers of death are, in fact, trying to kill you and that, my friend, is the truth. Oh, beauty is a beguiling call to death and we are  addicted to the sweet pitch of its siren. That that starts sweet ends bitter, and that which starts bitter ends sweet. That is why you and I hate this wonderful job and that is also why we cannot leave this f*&ing job. Now, where can I find a psychiatrist?"

Made me think..think and think...and I don't even smoke.....
